Live performances and gigs thread

I liked all the classic stuff that Jeru did, he can keep his new stuff. I might do what he says next time and just stay at home and listen to his music cos there was way too much waffle, trying to pull woman in the crowd, constantly ripping the guys at the front 'why you keep touching me son', telling jokes, I need another drink (you have a pint glass and a bottle of Jameson, just put more in it cunt)....yawn!

Large Pro came across totally the opposite, straight into the classic shit, no bs'ing. Thought he came across as a decent guy and humble too- highlight of the night for me!

Good to see Cro, I was thinking 'Oh Jiz is talking to Cro' even tho at the time he didn't know that :p

Thats a pretty poor effort though imo. An act like that - past their prime or not - should at least be able to get promoters to pay for one of their boys to handle basic turntable duties to fly out with them. There must be at least one semi-popular 90s mixtape DJ in Queens with time on his hands!
Either that or just get a local DJ in each city to step up.

that was sort of the problem...Jeru had a local DJing for him who was quite happy playing before the set, then seemed to be having serato cable issues as soon as he started playing for Jeru. The Beatnuts were using Serato and Juju did a better job than the other two! Seems most acts are happy to bring someone with no real skills, the ones who do show the others up completely (Finesse, Pharoahe, KRS, Soundsci etc it makes a huge difference to live shows imo). In most cases using locals doesn't work that well as they haven't practiced together.

Large pro was definitely the highlight and great to see Juju on the balcony with a massive grin on his face during Large Pros set

yeah, I guess when I mentioned "local" DJs I was thinking about the times I've seen people like Vadim, Harry Love, MK and DJ for US acts . Not so much the promoter's girlfriend's brother's mate!

Whenever I see DJ's using Serato they always seem be using Apple MacBooks, what's the deal there then? Do people not use windows laptops or is it just coincidence?

coincidence I guess. I'm told Macs are less prone to going wrong. I use a a normal laptop and its never given me any problems though (having said that, I'd get a Mac if they were cheaper!)

I need a lap top, would love an Apple with retina display but like you say so pricey.

^This is happening this Thursday in BK, NYC if anyone is interested.. Graff/Rap event headlined by Masta Ace and The Artifacts. Should be extremely dope. PH (Pumpkinhead) had a hand in putting this thing together. If you've been to any of the 90s revival events, you know tho expect greatness with this one.
