Loads of stuff I've missed in 2020 but Rap gigs ain't one of them.
* Having to get the train because neither of your mates wanna be the designated driver.
* Warm-up DJs playing the same old 90s songs + Nas Made You Look.
* Terrible local support acts.
* Headlining rappers coming out 45 minutes late.
* Key members of groups not even turning up.
* Shit sound where it takes you 30 seconds to even work out what song is being performed.
* Queues for the bar and the bog.
* Dancefloor covered in beer, bogfloor flooded with piss from a overflowed toilet.
* The distinct possibility someone is gonna spill their pint on you.
* Sweltering venues with no air conditioning during the summer.
All in all, I'd rather just go out for a meal or to the pub tbqh.
£5 for Red Stripe in a plastic pint glass b2b with carrying 2 of the fuckers through the crowd back to your mate.
Wetherspoons app w/table service any day
Don't get me started on warm up DJs at gigs. Always wanted to do it but never had the opportunity. Best believe I would not be playing Real Hip Hop into Dead Prez and the doing an Illmatic medley followed by Ante Up + Sound Of Da Police.
Neverspoons....grrrr ;)
^^^ Agreed. I'm never giving that gammon cunt Tim Martin any more of my money. Local pubs FTW.
Other rap gig lowlights:
£9 for a single rum & ginger with one ice cube in it.
Bogs stink because someone has done a nasty cocaine shit in there.
Getting your expensive coat splashed with beer after the rapper's hypeman weed carrier starts spraying his cans of Budweiser into the audience.
Bad example re Spoons but my point on terrible bars in live venues stands.
Agree 100%
At the last Action Bronson gig in Manchester, the warm-up DJ (Daringer I think) came on and played Latin. Unexpected and good.
