1998 Showbiz & AG over anything DMX & his (corny) chorus rap style & beat selection.

Gang Starr 'Moment Of Truth' also came out in '98

    THE MILITIA
had such an impact on release.

these records were big in the backpackers and white european circles , dmx (and juvenile) was getting plays in clubs and in the streets..it's the old lyricist lounge vs the tunnel discussion, two completely different worlds that co existed at the same time but were completely separate

    Woah..
That’s such a strange argument to make.

Gang star & DITC are for the white European circles??

Its ok to like different things btw

for me, DMX & the Ruff Riders reminds me of shitty clubs, cheesy music & shine suits.

I've said they were big in those circles i didn't say they were made for it, means they were getting (and still do ) lots of plays.
Every freestyle cypher type of event used spit
When DMX dropped he was seen as the antidote of shiny suits, if you look at the get a me dog video is the opposite of what Puffy was doing (the "Free the Lox " movement was part of this as well)
of course it's ok to like different things , i like both for example

    I'm confused now.

Who said anything about D.I.T.C and Gang Starr? Obviously they are better than DMX but maybe not in 1998 when both were on the decline.

Good point about DMX, Ruff Ryders was seen as hard not corny outside of the Euroman lens.

    It's a black motorcycle gang!

Yeah RR were the total opposite of the shiny suit stuff. They weren't shy of jacking an EPMD beat or two either (Get At Me Dog, Ryde Or Die). That Hot 97 freestyle with DMX, Canibus & Noreaga was seen as a bit of a changing of the guard after Biggie died.
