The UMCs – The Dawning (unreleased)

Here is a UMC's track that was made in 1994 but never saw the light of day. I like it, sounds a lot like the stuff from the Unleashed album.

Thanks for this - sounds better than a lot of 'unearthed' stuff I've heard of late.

Wouldn't be prepared to pay a premium price for it though..

    Enjoyed that.
I really couldn't get with their second album maybe time to try again.
The guys can certainly rap well, just something didn't grab me about it.
A little too 'of the time' maybe.

^ same here, the first album defined their sound to me, apparently they hate it and prefer the harder 2nd album stuff

Am thinking the same. I hated that sophomore effort compared to the debut, but I'm liking this track.

I loved the 321 - Ruff Rapps track which came after the 2nd LP:

Whilst I do like the first UMC's album I do find it a little bit too sugar coated.
I could never get with Blue Cheese but love One To Grow On, lots of other nice tracks too but I could understand them not being too pleased with it (artisticly).

just played Side-A of UMC's/Unleashed, first spin of it in many years.
Its just so 'of the time' the flows are just like everyone else was doing at the time, cant think were the flow originated (brains a bit slow today) but everyone was kind of doing it, and their voices got a little grimey-er, that doesn't help either.
Its a snooze-fest based on the fact you have heard it all before elsewhere, the MC's are really bringing it, they really sound like their putting it all in but its still boring.
Just needle-dropped Side-B (I cant take another who side of it at the moment) and it sounds a bit better, I kind of look forward to checking it out.

here's a couple of UMC facts I didnt know:

Since the group's break-up, Haas G has focused on producing music, most notably garnering a #1 hit for Lil Kim featuring 50 Cent, with "The Magic Stick." Kool Kim reinvented himself as the controversial underground emcee NYOIL.
