    https://massappeal.com/ankhle-john-r...ideo-premiere/

Real hip hop is scraping its way back to commercial attention. And we’re not only talking the return of boom bap production and quote-worthy punchlines, the gritty and grimy rap is experiencing an upswing too. Enter Ankhle John (pronounced Uncle John). Your favorite MCs and producers all agree, this gravel-voiced rapper outta Washington, D.C. is a name you need to know. He’s on some coke, murder, and madness shit, like this era’s Esham or Brother Lynch Hung maybe. Coming from Washington, his perspective is more flavored by the ’80s crack epidemic…even though he is way too young to have actually been there.

MASS APPEAL wanted to be the first to turn you onto Ankhle, so we lined up the video premiere for “Rayful Edmond.” This dark banger is the second drop off John’s new album The Red Room and is produced by the dude some have compared to a young Preem, Camoflauge Monk.

The song is both an ode and a diss to Washington crack legend Rayful Edmond. The man credited with bringing that hard white to the nation’s capital also eventually turned states’ evidence. This is what John is referencing on the hook when he raps: “I kill a nigga for the paper, ho / but I can never snitch like Rayful though / banana clips with the laser scopes / his body dropped as we raised the toast.” Not only does this MC have a voice that would make Sticky Fingers scrunch his face, but his ad libs sound straight evil. Demonic even. Our words won’t do this raw video justice, so we’ll leave the NSFW visuals for you to discover on your own. You know what to do.

Horrible? Okay. Why you feel this way? Is it his voice?
