Marley Marls 2nd LP wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be.

I refuse to get drawn into a discussion about It Was Written vs Illmatic in the year of our Lord 2019.

Hell On Earth is very good (+ I prefer It to The Infamous)

yeah, for such a big name in the game Marleys second album hardly ever gets a mention.

None of that "ran like a cheetah", "lamp like a pole", "monkey flipping" simplistic nonsense.
Are you on glue ? Nas hasn’t made an album anywhere near as consistently good as Illmatic ever.

After the Infamous, I was disappointed, what can I say?! Thread title says it all, not saying it was bad but I sold my copy and ended up rebuying it years later, genuinely how I felt, didn't have the same impact as Infamous, maybe too much had leaked on radio (not that infamous didn't have that too, I think 5 songs hadn't been played on the radio?!)

    Infamous > Hell On Earth

    Pos K LP = 2nd OK LP

The Infamous was more impactful, and Shook Ones Pt. 2 was a massive song, but Hell On Earth is the superior album. It has a richer sound, Prodigy's lyrics are better, and the entire project is more consistent throughout.

The best songs on It Was Written are arguably better than the best songs on Illmatic. But I do think that Illmatic is a much better album.

Incidentally, did anybody know that 'Live Nigga Rap' from It Was Written was originally recorded for Hell On Earth? It's a banger, too.
