And here's a rare instance of a rapper covering their own song:
Too $hort -Invasion Of The Flat Booty Bitches
O.G version:
Diggidy dope threat!
Iīd really wish there were more rap artists covering other rap artists rap songs cause if itīs done right itīs so much fun!
I also wanted to post Snoopīs Papered Up but BB was faster. Iīd crown Snoop king of the rap-cover genre.
Anyway...hereīs a dope one from E-40. His version of the Sir Mix A Lot classic...
...and one from the N.W.A.- Straight Outta Compton 10th Anniversary album which was surprisingly weak. This one here i like though..
Oh..one thing. As a heavy Gil Scott-Heron fan i must strongly disagree about the Esther Phillips version of Home Is Where The Haterd is being better. It is indeed a nice Soul tune but too polished compared to the original. No Chance !!![]()
I like both equally, both are super poignant as they were both drug addicts when they were singing it.
Hypnotical Gases - Keeping my proboscis out of the dirt.
Got a good one on my digs this afternoon.
Zulema - Wanna Be Where You Are
Hypnotical Gases - Keeping my proboscis out of the dirt.
This thread reminded me of this big ass list of rap covers, remakes & answer records on the TROY forum

Fun fact. Or not so fun...
I love how one cover version leads to another here...

Not sure sure if thatīs actually the only song Furl and 40 ever did together

^^ I think it is. E-40 and Dre were supposed to be on Turf Talk's Hubba Rock but something happened and San Quinn took '40's spot.
On a similar tip, Sexual Harrassment's I Need A Freak inspired these 2 covers:
Egyptian Lover - I Need A Freak
Too $hort - I Need A Freak
Plus later beatjacks by Mac Dre, Messy Marv etc.
