2 Tone was a good little genre for cover versions wonnit?
The Specials - Monkey Man
Madness - One Step Beyond
The Beat - Tears Of A Clown

And Fun Boy Three were always particularly great at cover versions:
Fun Boy Three ft. Bananarama - It Ain't What You Do...
Bananarama ft. Fun Boy Three - Really Saying Something
Fun Boy Three - Our Lips Are Sealed
Biz Markie - Benny & The Jets
G.O.A.T Rap flexi disc.
cool thread. I'm not really up on old reggae and 70s 45s so maybe I can approach from a different angle
was a big fan of Aphrodite/Urban Takeover in the mid-late 90s. Here's his version of Summer Breeze
and his remix of Abandon Me by Yazz (Love Dont Live Here by Rose Royce)
I also ride for the Tongue N Cheek version of Encore, probably because I heard it before the original (often a big factor in this kind of thing I reckon). Loved that late 80s trend of just wacking Funky Drummer or Think under a vocal with some PE samples and taking the rest of the day off.
Just seen an old TOTP and Dub be Good To Me by Beats International is in this category too, although obviously the SOS Band version is better.
mixed feelings about drawing for the UKG but its Friday and a couple of beers in.
The MJ Cole remix of Incognito's Nights Over Egypt. The Masters At Work remix and Incognito's original version are decent too.
DJ Luck & Shy Cookie vs Corrupted Cru - Poison
Luck & Neat - On Da Street, which is Stevie Wonder - Master Blaster with a bit of CREAM chucked in
The same EP had their version of Aint No Stoppin Us (Ollie & Jerry) but that's not so great

oh, this too - Lovestation's cover of Teardrops by Womack & Womack
The Simonsound - ‘It's Just Begun’
The Simonsound - ‘Tour De Mars’
Good stuff all round.
Oi Step, you shoulda posted that NORE remake of Colors you found:

Sticks to the script enough to be considered a cover, imo.
