Frosty:> I think if I'm ever going to be able to do a proper NY trip I'll have to go myself....
One of the best trips I ever had to NYC was a 24 hour dash around the city before I travelled North to Cape Cod. Every spot on my list was ticked off, although I didn't quite have enough time to trawl through all the dollar bins..

    Frosty:>

Sounds like a trip to BK might be in order as well, although (as utterly ridiculous as it sounds) I'm having trouble convincing the wife that Brooklyn is a safe place to be. Every time I bring it up, she always says 'It can't be that safe if the tour buses don't go over after a certain time of night!'. I think if I'm ever going to be able to do a proper NY trip I'll have to go myself....
hahaha the only thing you need to fear in Williamsburg is being run over by a hipster twat on a tall bike.

Brooklyn is lovely I stayed in Park Slope last time I went and it was pretty posh!

Your from Edinburgh dude the Grassmarket is more scary on a Saturday night than anywhere I went in NYC.

Ras:>All the record spots mentioned are good, I can definitely co-sign on the Academy Stores in particular, you'll need more time for the one in Brooklyn for sure, but it's big, cheap and easy......
As far as TSL goes, I left in April so I can't tell you but I can just hope to be involved in something in the future that Drew can approve of.
Don't take it personally Ras. Dropped major loot in TSL over the years, but the pricing over the last few years hasn't run with the times at all and that's a widely held opinion.

18th street is classical music only. And I don't mean the busy boys.

Yeah the E. 12st one is good, I know it had moved from it's original location to there (I think) when I went last year so had to make a sweaty dash up the road lol.

But as people have already said the part of Brooklyn where their other store is is a hippy vegan fest lol, they will be more scared of you bro!
I normally just take a cab over, like $20-$25 but I usually get that back on the first 12" I find
