there was a serious dip around 1992, 1993 (don't bother to list the classics from those two years, I'm aware of them) with far too many generic gutter beats and kids doing the stompy 93 dance.
LOL ha ha - yea hate 84! No it's more particular movements/styles that I like so when put as years it makes 84 look hated! poor 84!-actually there are loadz of rekkids I love from 84 Whodini, B Boys, Fam Quest, Bam, Shante, Melle Mel ...................... Probably it'd be better of me to say that I love the 80s +early 90s.....

check greg wilsons website which has mixes and some history of this period in the UK. he called it 'electro-funk'
http://www.electrofunkroots.co.uk
Electro-Funk is undoubtedly the most misunderstood of all UK Dance genres, yet probably the most vital with regards to its overall influence. Central to the confusion is the term itself, which during 82/83 (before it was shortened to Electro) was specific to the UK. From a US perspective this music would come under a variety of headings (including Hip-Hop, Dance, Disco, Electric Boogie and Freestyle), arriving on import here in the UK mainly on New York labels like West End, Prelude, Sugarhill, Emergency, Profile, Tommy Boy, Streetwise, plus numerous others. Just as Northern Soul was a British term for a style (or group of styles) of American black music, so was Electro-Funk, and, like Northern, the roots of the scene are planted firmly in the North-West of England
i like the old, mid and new right up until all the higgidy diggidy das efx clones came out of the wood work.
Voted 89 -95 but probably 91/92 were probably my favourite years......
86-96 I suppose but there are tracks I love from all those eras. Interesting that noone has said 2000-present! I think there has been a few classics in the modern era but we may look back at them more fondly after we contend with the next ten years!
